Biography

    Ricardo Yuuki Davis was born in Iwakuni, Japan, and is currently based in Cleveland, Ohio.The artist has recently been trying to promote environmentalism and world peace through his artwork.These messages are often expressed in the form of fictional characters, animals, and short films. Davis creates his own creatures with fabric, puppets, and acrylic paintings. His work has been featured in two exhibitions while he attended the Cleveland Institute of Art. The first was called Softest, and was a collaboration of the students of the institute’s Sculpture and Expanded Media department (SEM). The second was Come In, Don’t Mind the Mess, which was a collaboration of students from SEM, Painting, and Drawing majors. Davis has earned several scholarships and grants from CIA. These include the CIA Gund Family Scholarship, the William McVey Fund, and the Robert and Miriam Peck Scholarship.
